How do you take care of dentures?
Dentures should be cleaned regularly and thoroughly so that they look great and last for as long as possible. You can use a special denture cleaner and a soft-bristle toothbrush to clean your dentures at least once per day, but not toothpaste, as it is too abrasive. It’s also important to soak your dentures after cleaning them. Soaking dentures helps to kill even more harmful bacteria, keep them moist, which helps to keep their custom shape, and gives your gums a break. Dentures should not typically be worn during the night while the patient is asleep.
Can you whiten dentures?
Dentures are quite stain-resistant, so while they won’t stain as easily as natural teeth, they also won’t be able to absorb regular teeth whitening products either. When we are designing your custom dentures, we will work with you to find the best shade of white that looks nice yet natural, so you won’t necessarily feel the need to whiten your dentures. If they ever start to look a little dull, you can try using hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, white vinegar, or products that are specifically designed for whitening dentures to make them look like new again.
